As the experience of being pregnant and expecting a baby can be exciting, it can also be scary. You have a lot of questions we will try to answer in this booklet. Obviously, for any other information or advice, contact your doctor or nurse.

Where can I find information on pregnancy?
Get a list of issues that concern you and take it at your next doctor visit. You’ll be well prepared to ask questions that your doctor is someone you see for the first time or whether a doctor that you have known for a long time. There are excellent books and other resources on pregnancy and women’s health. We provide a list of resources at the end of this brochure.

What happens if I experience bleeding?
Contact your doctor or nurse if you experience bleeding. If this proves impossible, go to a hospital emergency room. Some bleeding may be harmless. By cons, if you are experiencing bleeding and lower abdominal cramps same time, it could announce a miscarry.

How should I eat during my pregnancy?
It is very important to eat during your pregnancy. Read the brochure Mother Health, healthy baby – it’s a good guide to help you choose the best foods to eat.

Should I take vitamins and supplements?
Before becoming pregnant, take a supplement of folic acid. Early in your pregnancy, take a vitamin supplement containing 0.4 mg of folic acid. The supplement should also contain iron, calcium and other essential nutrients. Your pharmacist or doctor can help you.

Can I do the exercise during my pregnancy?
Recent research shows that you can make physical activity safe for your pregnancy. In fact, regular exercise is good for health and well-being, helps you maintain a healthy weight during your pregnancy and may even help prevent complications such as gestational diabetes. Discuss your exercise plan with your doctor or nurse will tell you warning indicators could make your baby and yourself at risk. When you do exercise regularly check your heart rate and maintain a moderate body temperature.
