The National Health and Nutrition

Health and NutritionIt is today well established that there is a clear link between diet and health. Nutritional imbalances are involved in the development of diseases most prevalent today in all industrial countries: cardiovascular diseases, cancer, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, high cholesterol.

The National Health and Nutrition (PNNS) aims to optimize health and quality of life of people by acting on one of its major determinants, which is nutrition.

For the period 2006-2010, the second National Health and Nutrition Plan develops new ambitions and new lines of action to complete the field of prevention:

Thus, the regional’s main missions:

* Acting on the individual and collective behavior, especially towards the food supply and catering school.
* Develop early detection and treatment of eating disorders: obesity and malnutrition, including through the establishment of centers of reference hospital.
* Target the poor through specific actions.
* Engaging the voluntary sector and local communities through the signing of the charter of commitments “active city PNNS.

In prevention, the national plan has its regional variation within three goals of the PRSP programs:

* The Health and Nutrition Health: Programme 5 of the PRSP, whose overall objective is to promote a balanced diet and physical activity in the general population and specific groups, particularly people in precarious situations.
* Program 16: School Health Program and health education (Goal 7)
* Program 18: Preventing the risks associated with aging (Objective 1)

Achievements:

* Pilot programs and implementation of preventive actions in the 25 territories near the PACA region.
* Animation of a working group involving 15 cities have signed the charter PNNS Active Cities: Antibes-Juan Les Pins, Cannes, Grasse, Mouans Sartoux, St. Raphael, St. Maxime, La Gaude, La Seyne-sur -mer, Le Lavandou, Carqueiranne, Marseille, Salon St-Chamas, Fuveau Cabriès.
* An inventory of the distribution of food aid to people in the PACA region in a precarious situation has been achieved. This study includes a directory and data sheets actors in the food, an analysis of distribution channels,
* Survey on the implementation and operation of CLAN (liaison committees Food and Nutrition) in health facilities
* Installation of a regional steering committee PNNS
