Urinalysis

When is a urine test?
Urine tests are useful because they provide information on a wide range of diseases. Urine can be analyzed quickly using a special strip of paper, which is introduced into the fresh urine immediately after urination. Show whether there is abnormal urine products such as sugar, protein or blood. For a more detailed analysis, the urine is considered later in the laboratory.
How is a urine test?
If the doctor suspects that there may be a case of cystitis (bladder infection) is very important to perform this type of analysis and the sample for the same has to be taken in the morning and the first void. Urine is normally sterile but can become contaminated by bacteria from the skin or genitals, so it is very important that before taking the sample both men and women wash their genitals and surrounding areas.
It is also important that women keep their labia apart during voiding, thus minimizing bacterial contamination of both the skin and the vagina. The sample is discarding the initial and final parts of urination, using only the middle part, which is deposited on the glass test sterile. The package for the analysis is provided by the health center or hospital where you will collect the sample. Can also be purchased in pharmacies.
